Growing up in the Southern California Surf and Hot Rod scene, Gary Usher Jr. quickly amassed the sound of his surroundings and channeled it into a unique style he calls SPRAYFACE. Schooled by his father (a true pioneer of the ’60s Surf and drag scene), Gary was hanging around with some of the most influential musicians of the last three decades.
Usher has appeared on the Big Screen in Paramount Pictures (Back To The Beach), played as a session guitar player with artists such as Brian Wilson, Dick Dale, Frankie Avalon, Bill Champlin (Chicago, Sons of Champlin), Scottie Page (Supertramp, Pink Floyd), Gino Vanelli, Gary Richrath (R.E.O. Speedwagon), Bobby Kimball (Toto) Mike Inez (Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, Alice in Chains) and the great Stevie Ray Vaughan. Growing up in recording studios has teamed Gary with noted producers such as Dan Huff (Keith Urban, Megadeth), Toby Wright (Metallica, Alice in Chains), and his father, Gary Usher.
From his command post at House of Usher Studios, Gary has assembled his own “Wrecking Crew” of talented musicians. From this emerges SPRAYFACE.
With the upbeat rendition of the Byrds perennial “So You Want to Be a Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” or Gary’s tribute to his Fathers’ “Mag Rims” to the horror movie house theme of “9 Tana Leaves”. SPRAYFACE is packed with Supersonic Sounds to wet your ear’s appetite with Cool Tones.
SPRAYFACE is a rock band at its core, but it injects driving beats with cool retro flavors, epic themes, dynamic chord changes, and tastefully intertwined guitar and lap steel melodies. SPRAYFACE blends its mix of West Coast Surf & Drag with an original blend of modern instrumental music.
